Event Description :
In order to preserve traditional Nepali/Tamu cultural aspect of Deusi-Bhailo program during Tihar Festival, Tamu Samaj Victoria organized for very first time its own Deusi-Bhailo programs at 3 Tamu residences covering most of the Tamu population in Melbourne Metropolitan area. We had Deusi-Bhailo at residences of Som Prasad Gurung in Campbellfield, Nitu Gurung in Craigieburn, and finally TSV President Pahalman Gurung in Hoppers Crossing. A total of 100 Tamu and Non-Tamu families participated and contributed to “Dakxhina” (foods/drinks, monetary donations) to Deusi-Bhailo team which was led by our own talented cultural artists.
In addition to preserving the cultural tradition of Deusi-Bhailo, Tamu Samaj Victoria also aimed to raise some funds for its Cultural Centre building project. A total of $5050 (Five Thousands and Fifty dollars) was raised, a special mention to Cragiburn Nepali Samaj which contributed $500. We also benefited from community spirit of getting together, enjoying singing and dancing, foods and drinks during Nepali festive season, even beter towards a noble cause of building TSV Cultural Centre.
Tamu Samaj Victoria would like to thank all the hosts and families for the reception of Duesi-Bhailo team and contribution to “Dakxhina”. We look forward to even better program next year.
As always please contact any of the Executive Committee members for further information, suggestions and questions.
