TAMU LHO-CHHAR “PHO LHO – YEAR OF DEER” CELEBRATED IN VICTORIA

Event Description :

Tamu Samaj Victoria organized “Lho-Chhar 2019 (“Pho Lho”, Year of Deer) on Saturday, 29th December 2018 at Estonia House, 43 Melville Road, West Brunswick, Victoria, Australia. Full house of around 400+ Gurungs (Tamus) and other community members joined in from all over Victoria, interstate as well as guests from Nepal to bid goodbye to “Year of Dog” and welcome “Year of Deer”.

 

The event highlights included Buddha Puja especially a wonderful discourse and blessing by Lama Guru Rachhay Gurung who was present all the way from Chitwan District in Nepal, Speeches exchanging Lho-Chhar wishes, Cultural traditional as well as modern songs and dances, Great food/drinks, Appreciation to the sponsors, Recognition to the academic achievers, Photography, etc. Selected event photos and videos can be found on TSV Facebook page. Kind attendance from various Nepali community organization leaders was as always much appreciated to show respect to our collective cultural heritage and harmony.

 

The event was supported by Victoria Multicultural Commission (VMC) under Multicultural Festivals and Events Program 2018-19. “The Kathmandu Cottage” has been our long term supporter for venue and catering services. Further more, we would like to appreciate the kind sponsorships from “Grace International” and “Sapkota Travel”. We encourage people to approach “Grace International” for education and migration services, and to “Sapkota Travel” for any transportation needs. On media front, My Nepal TV (MNTV) was a valuable partner to be on board.

 

We would like to thank whole-heartedly to all the volunteers, artists and committee members who contributed to the success of the event. Lastly, to all the Gurung as well as other community members who joined us to celebrate our biggest festival Tamu Lho-Chhar as one BIG family, thank you very much.
