Khenpo Shila explained on how to live a good life; listed some roadblocks such as anger, suspicion, greed, etc; and how “samyak dhristi” practice could help mitigate/manage such roadblocks to improve quality of life. Mental health has become a bigger challenge of modern lives. Khenpo Shila gave a demonstration of a simple meditation and yoga routine to improve mental health. Prayer pooja rituals (Green Tara, Dolma) for healthier, long lives and removing the life roadblocks were led by the Lamas. Then, wang (blessings) from the Lamas and lighting 108 oil lamps followed. Lastly, TSV President Tej Gurung thanked everyone, handed over appreciation certificates and Dakshina to Khenpo Shila, Master Tang of Quang Duc Monastery, and Sange Lama Indra.
There were a couple of project updates – one TSV Cultural Centre by Dr Mohan B Gurung, and another Buddha Park in Sindhupalchowk (Nepal) by Khenpo Vagindra Shila. Community members are encouraged to volunteer and donate to make these very important projects materialize very soon, also earn good merits.
The event was coordinated by Dr Parbati Gurung, supported by TSV Executive team, Advisors, Board Members, Mothers team and other community volunteers. The light refreshments were prepared and catered by TSV Mothers team. Special thanks to MCs Mr Laxman Gurung and Ms Sofia Gurung, Photographer Mr Thakur Prasad Gurung, Flyer designer Sandeep Gurung (Nepal), Quang Duc Monastery volunteers Master Dang, Dow, and David.
We also acknowledge the attendance from other communities – Sherpa Samaj Victoria, Magar Samaj Victoria, etc. TSV would like to thank all the attendees to make it a great spiritual and communal experience. Please take care, see you next time.
