Tamu Samaj Victoria (TSV) has held its AGM and election of new committees for term 2025-27 on 09/Aug/2025 from 1 to 5pm at Coburg Library Meeting Room.

TSV President Tej Bahadur Gurung chaired the session 1. TSV Secretary Arun Kumar Gurung provided an overview of activities and events in the last financial year. The highlights included organizing Tamu Culture Day and Deusi-Bhailo, Tamu LhoChhar, TSV Buddha Jayanti. TSV Treasurer Inder Singh Gurung presented the financial report of the financial year. Total cash balance of $214,371 has been reported. A total of 96 members including 15 Life (family) members are recorded in the financial year. TSV Cultural Centre Coordinator Dr Mohan B Gurung discussed the progress made. TSV Mothers Team Coordinators Anita Gurung and  Dr Parbati Gurung updated about the TSV Syai-syai and Best wishes family visits with a total of 15 such visits. TSV Board Committee Representative Som Prasad Gurung indicated to find more ways to raise more funds for the TSV Cultural Centre project. Some Q&A and discussion were held to improve the community engagement and services. Finally, the chair thanked all the committee members and volunteers for serving the community for last two years. He declared all the committee positions vacant and handed the meeting over to Dr Mohan Gurung, Election Commissioner, to conduct the session 2.

 

In session 2, some information regarding committee election/nomination, eligibility, etc were read out as per the TSV Constitution 2023. The election commissioner announced to call all the eligible candidates to put forward their interests. After some time, consensus was reached to fill out all the positions by nomination. With overwhelming approval, Tej Gurung will continue to lead as TSV President. Congratulations and thank you to all committee members for your leadership and commitment to serve the community for next 2 years.

In session 3, there was a short discussion about the upcoming events – Tamu Culture Day and Deusi-Bhailo, and Tamu LhoChhar. To discuss in more details, a meeting has been called on 13/Sep/2025, Saturday, 1 to 5pm at Coburg Library Meeting Room. On Miscellaneous items, CAV reporting, ATO tax return, membership forms, etc were mentioned. The President Tej Gurung concluded the session thanking all for the attendance.
